Odd Rumors
There are odd rumors coming down the pike about James Montgomery. Not too much is known at this time, but it appears he might be transferring. It is quite unclear. These rumors sometimes bubble up on various message boards such as here (Cal) or here (UDub). It is tough to take those sorts of rumors seriously. But James Montgomery is not currently listed on the 2008 California Pre-Spring Football Roster - Alphabetical (3/18/08). So, that does lend some credence to the situation.
As we learn more about this developing situation, we will certainly pass it along. This would be interesting considering a)he was the front runner to be a starting back and b)we have a lot of talent at RB going forward. But I guess we will have to wait and see what happens. Is Montgomery leaving? Is he staying? Maybe its all just a computer glitch and we are all up in arms over nothing. And all this after they moved Spring Practice back partially for him.
This is a potentially depressing post. So, let’s try to end it on a positive note with BEAST MODE LYNCH!

Best of luck to Montgomery. Unfortunately, he already used his redshirt, so he’ll only have 2 to play 2 where ever he ends up. Let’s not forget that he’s the one that came to Cal to supplant Marshawn. Marshawn told Montgomery that he was going pro early, then Montgomery told Rivals, then everybody knew then and there that Money was gone.

Wasn’t surprised–Tedford always seemed to prefer Best, and Montgomery never really gained much confidence in the second role. Too few carries seemed to indicate that maybe the two never meshed on a personal level.

I must respectfully disagree with your second sentence, Avinash. I think that attempting to infer that Montgomery got few carries because he and Tedford did not mesh on a personal level is quite a stretch. Saying that Montgomery didn’t get more carries because Tedford preferred Best is more likely. Afterall, there is evidence to support that theory: Best brings more to the table than Montgomery (speed, elusiveness, big play ability).
