Cal Basketball is Back!
To the Kevin Hart fiasco, add another very bizzare story - the men’s basketball team swept the Washington schools on the road last weekend. That’s right, a Ben Braun team overachieved. Feels weird even to type it, but it’s not without precedence. It seems that everytime we leave the Bears for dead, Braun surprises and gives us renewed hope. If you’re a Braun-basher, don’t worry; I haven’t gone soft and I still think we need a new coach. A few unexpected victories sprinkled among very mediocre seasons does not a good coach make. However, at least for the time being, the Bears are undeniably on the right track and it’s not too late to make the tournament. In order to do this, they need to keep winning games.
Enter Oregon State. Here is a preview:
Oregon State is a terrible, terrible basketball team. As everyone was saying this throughout the year, I thought to myself, they’re terrible every year, how different can this years team be? Then I watched Cal play at OSU. Everyone was right. They are really, really bad. I cannot emphasize this enough. Among other things, they are terrible at shooting, three point shooting, defense, and winning. Since Cal played them a month ago, they fired their coach and kicked their most talented, albeit douchiest, player off the team. The game isn’t even on TV, so if you want to see Cal beat a terrible team and run their record to an improbable 5-5 in the Pac-10, head over to Haas. Go Bears, beat the Beavs!
