Clearly, The Fanbase Is Agitated
Just got home from the game, and I decided to check on the blog. I wasn’t planning on writing anything, I just wanted to see if anything was up; you know, new posts by my fellow bloggers, or perhaps some new comments, or just see how many hits we were getting (Saturdays are usually pretty low, hit-wise, because many of you are at the game and don’t have time to waste at work).
Anyway, in the last hour of the game and the hour after it was over, we got hits from the following search engine queries:
"nate longshore sucks"
"california golden blogs"
"longshore sucks"
"cal longshore sucks"
"nate longshore sucks"
"2008 cal football schedule"
"i hate nate longshore"
"nate longshore sucks"
"nate longshore sucks"
"longshore sucks!"
"what is wrong with nate longshore"
I see a pattern developing. Can you spot it?
So, that’s 9 votes for Longshore sucks, 1 vote for ‘what’s the schedule like for next year?’ because this year can’t be over soon enough, and 1 vote for ‘I really like those fellows over at the California Golden Blogs, but I just can’t seem to remember their web address.’ Say it with me now:
‘Goldenblogs dot blogsome dot com’
See…easy! Anyway, I don’t know whether Nate Longshore is the reason the Bears lost tonight; HydroTech would be the guy to ask about that. I know that Longshore wasn’t the only one making mistakes out there, and that you can’t ever blame a loss in football on just one guy, but neither of those facts would contradict a claim of ‘longshore sucks’.
More interesting to me is what y’all are actually searching for. Clearly, you’ve already decided that Nate Longshore sucks; after all, you just saw all the evidence you need on your TV. Are you just looking for confirmation of what you already know? Are you looking for a clear, concise argument expressing what you’re unable to put into words? Or are you just looking for examples of his suckiness so you can compose an angry email to Tedford demanding that Kevin Riley be named the starting quarterback?
Whatever the motives, it’s clear that Cal’s fanbase is really getting restless with the team’s play, and when that happens, the quarterback is often the easiest scapegoat. One has to wonder, ‘How long will it be before people start blaming the head coach?’

not trying to add fuel to the fire, especially after such a miserable loss, but a post on cyberbears states that longshore’s career 4th quarter stats are 1 TD and 11(!) interceptions. yikes.

I will ignore the Longshore question until tomorrow, when I’m rational enough to discuss it. Otherwise I might say things I regret.

PS: Developing pneumonia during a loss adds insult to injury.

Holy cow there were a lot of fights up at the hill todazy. Even after the three ugliest fights were over, a bunch of USC fans kept stanidng in our view and not sitting down. I’m disapointed in Nate’s play today but we’re not the raiders, we shouldn’t boo our own players. Also, standing in the Rain for 3 or 4 hours is fun at first but gets old and exuasting fast.

Longshore = L in the 4th quarter. Does it take a hit by a 18 wheeler to the head of JT to make a QB change? The mind beckons.

This is clearly a disappointing season that cannot end fast enough! Before I start on Longshore and Tedford…can anyone tell me what is going on with our defense??! EVERY time we score, we give the score right back on the opponent’s next possession. This worked earlier in the season when we scored 7 points in the red zone. Now, we’re turned away or we settle for the not so automatic field goal.
Ok…Longshore. Let’s see, are we suppossssssed to be surprised of the 11 interceptions to the 1 touchdown performance in the 4th quarter? Folks, he’s done that crap all season. We score like 40 points in the first half only to let the team back into the game in the second half because Longshore gets worse as the game progesses. I used to say, “If I See Nate mouth ‘My Bad!’ one more time to a receiver…” I mean, I can understand maybe miscommunicating once even twice but throughout the whole game and THIS late in the season anddddddd, we were going to be Number 1 in the country??!!
Tedford’s turn. Gimme a break. What the @#$% is he getting angry for on the sideline?? Throwing his gear on the floor at the end of the OSU game and constantly showing his disgust with Longshore. Pleeeease. It’s coaching baby! He’s now in the big time and showing he’s not a big time coach. You can all fill in the blanks about the coaching we’re witnessing.
That said, we’re not done losing…

“You know it, you tell the story!, you tell the damn wide world THAT NATE LONGSHORE SUCKS MY @$$!”

Restless is not the word I would choose to explain how I feel…But we’ll come back to that later. Much later.
Here’s my two cents on the current debacle:
Tedford is calling the plays he thinks will work in any given situation. There’s no telling whether he’s making the right or wrong call because most times, the personnel on the field can’t execute the actual play he inteded. And if they do manage to get some parts of it right, other parts still don’t seem to click. In my uneducated football opinion, its about accountability. Yes, Tedford is calling plays so he is partially at fault, but at what point do you have to look to to the players and wonder how much of the responsibility for all of the missteps lies with them?
I’m just sayin’…

Quite frankly the only thing that pisses me off besides Longshore is seeing his stupid fiance act like she knows something about football. There are guys out there with girlfriends, fiances, and wives that actually know WTF is going on.
How many times do you have a first and goal, take out all receivers, and force Forsett into FOUR MAN COVERAGE! Dude, he is a small guy that is awesome so don’t get him injured on the same damn play that hasn’t worked for the PAST FOUR GAMES!
I am pissed at Longshore, but I knew he sucked when we played Tennessee two years ago. Hello it was Ayoob that saved some face and helped put points on the board.
As far as Tedford, does he have a man crush on the idiot or does he just feel sorry for him?

Nate Longshore *really* sucks. Even with talented WRs, he’d be doing hand signals to the starting QB on any other team during his entire career.
I have no idea why Tedford didn’t put in Riley for the Big Game, but it has to keep him up at night now. No doubt Riley would have scored more than one TD with that much offensive fire power.
a) He stares right at his receiver, making it far to easy to lose a last minute drive on an interception (think UCLA, Stanford, etc.)
b) He has shit for an arm. His long receptions are short throws that Jackson or Hawking runs after the catch. Plus, no defense ever respects the long ball with him… just look where the corners are even with Cal’s talented WRs.
c) He’s not very bright. Look how many times he screws up what play they are running… or has delay of game penalties. It’s embarrassing.
d) He’s not mobile at all. Why should a defense ever respect his chance for a run? And naturally, they’ll blitz him everytime.

Blue Lasers are shaped like blue laser pens, or Blue Laser pointersare designed to be portable and hand held. Blue laser pointers were originally used to project a dot or point from the beam that can be used to point out items or objects to an audience such as during a presentation. With their increased proliferation and power, the application of blue laser pointers has grown to encompass uses.
