While UA may be having success on a "No-Holmoe" plan, I cant help but see a parrell to a Holmoe type implosion. Remember that Holmoe had Cal on the cusp on a bowl game, just like Stoops. And just like the Stoops Wildcats, he got there by riding a strong defense, the only thing missing was an offense (Cal only had one, like UA today). And so we Bears fans and Holmoe pinned our hopes on bringing in an offensive coordinator who could direct our offense and help us get over the top. And so, there was Hagen, and there was Borgas, and the guy before him, i dont even remember but he was worse than those two i think. Offensive coordinator musical chairs failed miserably, and its going to fail miserably at UA also, and Stoops head will explode, and its going to get all over us. Stoops is a loud hot head, Holmoe was a weak leader, but they both unable to run winning Pac 10 programs.

I understand not wanting to make fun of Cal players or coaches. But I'm not sure I want to live in a world where I can't make fun of Tom Holmoe. I'd fear to live in that apocalyptic deathscape.

OK, having sat through just about every Holmoe coached game in Berkeley and having listened to Stanford coach Harbaugh berate Cal's academics based on numbers from the Holmoe era, I know as well as anyone how bad Holmoe was as a coach. But that doesn't mean he's a bad AD. I think Holmoe is much more of an administrator than a coach and the AD job is perfect for him. He's been with BYU for 4 years now and BYU's athletics has been on the up and up every year since. Remember this is the BYU program that gave us a pretty good game in the Vegas bowl two years ago and destroyed Oregon last year in the Vegas bowl. Obviously their head coach is good, but Holmoe leads a good enough department to allow the coach to be successful. As a person and AD, Holmoe's OK in my book... just don't give him a headset and an assignment on the sideline.
