We here at the California Golden Blogs are huge fantasy sports fans, though we’ve never really tried our hand at Yahoo Sports! College Football Pick ‘Em game.  However, we figured that since we’ve got our own blog now, we thought it might be fun to see how our picks stack up against those of our (perhaps more?) knowledgeable readers.  Since it’s always fun to have bragging rights and all.  This is our first time doing this, and as such we have no hard and fast rules about how the picks are going to go, but we will be using a spread, and probably confidence points as well.  We’ll be picking every game involving a team in the AP top 25 poll every week, so for those of you that would like to join, here’s how you sign up:

1. Get a Yahoo! ID at Yahoo.com if you don’t already have one
2. Go to Yahoo Sports! College Football Pick ‘Em page
3. Choose sign up for a private league
4. Use league number #4448, password "gobears"

And you’ll be set.  The maximum number of participants is 50, and we’d like to have that many of our fans join us in the league as well.

And he said unto the land "I am ideologically bankrupt and this is just another in a looooooooooooong line of misrepresentations" and lo, it was bad.

In the Thursday edition of the Daily Cal, there is an article about Runnie Dub.  Here’s the link. If you were unaware, there were accusations that the Ewoks up there had caused damage to Berkeley property.  The accusations were that the tree people cut off some of the branches to make it more comfortable for them.  The article says that, if proved, this accusation could result in further misdemeanor charges on top of the normal lodging and tresspass charges.  Then again, if you look at the police blotter, you’ll see that charging these people with a crime hasn’t really stopped many from returning again and again and again and again.

But Runnie Dub doesn’t say that they damaged the trees, per se.   He claims they cut off branches to preserve the trees.  Now, in the interest of fairness, this isn’t as totally insane as it originally sounds.   I worked for several horticulture companies during high school and pruning the branches of trees helps them grow better.  You cut off branches growing in conflict with each other and/or the dead parts of branches. 

However, you must excuse me if I am not willing to give The Dubster the benefit of the doubt here.  He has lied many times in the past.  He has been physically and verbally abusive towards peace officers.  He will clearly stop at nothing to accomplish his truly vacuous goals.  So, while it might be true that they were "pruning" the trees, I am loath to believe such a thing. More likely, it was the vandalism the police claim.  

Another odd thing is this quote from Dubbie:

"RunningWolf said the treesitters who participated in the pruning have since left the trees, which he said have a high turnover of people."

I wonder if this high turnover stems from problems getting people to believe in the cause.  This could be a good sign.  Or it could just mean that the hippiecrits (credit:  some dude at Bear Insider) have finally realized the truth we already knew.

Living in trees really really sucks.  And it is in no way accomplishing their goals.
