is just like you or I!  Except he’s genuinely excited to see Peerless Price.

From the only man to make Eric Karabell look hot, we get a look at Bills camp. The important excerpt I have C+Ped below.  It is about our boy, Marshawn: 

"The interesting change is at running back. The Bills thought they had become too plodding in the backfield with Willis McGahee. The franchise was switching from the Steelers-influenced offensive style of Mike Mularkey to the Fairchild system, which is an up-tempo offense with more finesse. McGahee caught only 18 passes last year, and even though he’s a 1,200-yard rusher, the Bills ranked 27th in the league running the ball. Enter first-round pick Marshawn Lynch, who brings more of a Marshall Faulk style to the Bills’ backfield.

Lynch looked good catching the ball from the backfield. Though he doesn’t have McGahee’s power, Lynch can break a quick run up the middle when needed. He’ll help with the passing offense first and settle into his running duties with a little more experience. Anthony Thomas may be on the field on early downs, but it’s pretty clear Lynch will grow into being the main back. On Monday, though, he was in awe of his new teammates.

"Sometimes I catch myself in a daze watching them," Lynch said. "It’s like, ‘Man, that’s Peerless Price right there. That’s Lee Evans.’ You can see some great things from this offense.""

 
Clearly, Marshawn has never met himself.  Because anybody who has met Marshawn wouldn’t give a doodle about Peerless Price or Lee Evans.   Not.  Even.  A.  Doodle!

Yknow, looking at the Bills 2007 schedule, they barely leave the Eastern time zone.  The most west they go is Detroit.  Yknow what this means?  MICHIGAN ROAD TRIP! 

…for letting the Daily Cal do our research.  Last week, we referenced a Daily Cal article that profiled four Cal baseball players who hoped to be drafted in last week’s MLB draft.  Some were, apparently, expected to be taken in the first 10 rounds of this 50-round marathon.  Well, 1452 players were drafted last Thursday and Friday, but not one of them was a Golden Bear.

While this outcome is certainly disappointing, especially for Brett Munster, a senior, it doesn’t necessarily mean there’s no hope for professional baseball in their future.  Players can and do sign on as minor league free agents, and some find their way to independent leagues, working on their craft and hoping to get noticed.

And for the juniors (Satin, Rollin, and Karnofsky), there’s still another year of Cal Baseball, if they want it.  In fact, when drafting juniors, many teams will pass after a certain point in the draft, assuming that a kid with a year left in college isn’t going to give that up for the measly signing bonus a 20th round pick commands.  Many draft-hopefuls will tell scouts that, "If I’m not taken in the first X rounds, don’t bother."  Now, this Daily Cal article (there we go again) claims that none of the undrafted Bears made such a demand, but with so many players out there in the draft, it wouldn’t surprise me to see teams go ahead and make that assumption anyway.

Still, there was one potential Golden Bear drafted.  Berkeley High senior Brian Guinn, Jr., who has already accepted a baseball scholarship to Cal for next year, was drafted in the 10th round by the Chicago White Sox.  Will he sign?  Depends on what the White Sox offer, and whether he wants to stay in school or become a professional right away.  Hopefully (for Cal fans), he follows in his father’s footsteps.  Brian Guinn, Sr., was drafted  by the A’s in 1979, decided to attend Cal instead, and eventually signed with the A’s in 1983, making it to the majors for one game.  Either way, it’s not a bad set of options to choose from, don’t you think?
