Comcast Can Go To Hell

Ok, so, as I write this, Cal’s opening round Pac-10 Tournament game is being played in Los Angeles.  It’s also on TV, on one of Fox Sports Net’s myriad of channels, and I can’t watch it.  Why the fuck not?  I pay $130 a month to Comcast, in part for this huge cable package that’s absolutely useless to me.  I get some 300 channels or something like that, and the one I actually want to watch comes up with a ‘Not Authorized’ message.  What?  Do I have to pay extra to watch this shit?  What the fuck is that?

Oh, there’s a Cal Basketball game on right now, but it’s a replay of last Saturday’s shitty, shitty loss to Arizona State.  Why the fuck would anyone want to watch that crap again?  Even ASU fans have to admit it was some pretty poor basketball.  I actually watched it for a while, thinking ‘here we go again…’ until I realized that I was watching the exact same crap again.

Then I checked the internet, and realized that we had an 18-point halftime lead, which made me feel better, except that now I actually want to watch the game, and can’t.  And if we win tonight, I can’t watch tomorrow’s game, because it’s in the afternoon, and I have to work.  Considering we would draw UCLA, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but still…

Those who’ve read this blog regularly know that I don’t swear much, but this situation is really pissing me off.  Maybe if the team were better, I wouldn’t have to try so hard to see them on TV.  One can only hope.

OK, lead was down to 8 there for a sec, but now it’s back up to 12.  Go Bears!

Retire Already,

Brett Favre! Now, you might have 2 Golden Bears waiting in line to be a QB.  Because according to this Chron article about Cal Pro Day, Marshawn’s dream position is QB.  And here I thought it was "Ghostriding Equipment Cart."

Lynch impressed scouts with his numbers at the Combine (4.46 40-yard dash, 20 bench repetitions of 225 pounds and ranking in the top 10 in both jumps and the cone drills) and with his skills set, which he showed off with a series of drills at Pro Day.

After one leaping catch Tuesday, a scout joked, "We may play him at receiver," but Lynch wanted to do even more. He tried to sneak in for a rep at quarterback between Joe Ayoob and Steve Levy.

"They didn’t let me throw today," Lynch joked, "but one day, I might get my break at my dream position."

I mean he CANNOT be any worse than Ayoob.  No animate object can.  Even some inanimate objects.  Frankly, I think some abstract concepts like gravity and Lutheranism could be better at QB.  And Marshawn is certainly better than gravity.  There’s no debating that.

"I’m stapling 95 of these straight to the end zone!"

Also, from the Pro Day, Hughes didn’t appear to improve his time much, except for one scout who said 4.47.  Others had him in the 4.5 range.  Hughes, then, decried the timing technology.

"If you play with a stopwatch and start it and stop it as fast as you can, it’s like a tenth of a second," Hughes said. "That’s the difference in a 4.4 and a 4.5, and I don’t see how that plays a very big deal in your football ability."

If Hughes REALLY wanted to draft high, he should have thrown a football through the uprights from his knees.  Damn, screw that, I bet Marshawn could throw a football through the uprights from his back.  The Rose Bowl’s uprights!

Also, Mickey Pimentel may or may not have been shot while running for scouts.  It is unclear.

Anyway, looks like a productive day.  And if the hated Pack get Marshawn, maybe he can run a few half back options for them.  Remember when he ran that option in the UDub game and then there wasn’t anything downfield, so he ran through traffic to the 1?

If not, watch this video.

HE IS A GOD!
